Met Car Accident, Have Several Pinched Nerves. What Are Treatment Options?

I was recently in a severe car accident and had a ton of tests done but my question is relating to my arm where I did find out I have several pinched nerves. But recently things have gotten to the point I can barely sleep or even live my life. My right arm now is so bad that whenever my elbow is bent for more than even 1-2 minutes my hands start going completley numb and it even goes into my wrist and forearm area. I can not do anything with that right arm that requires any bending of my elbow because instantly it goes numb and when I wake up EVERY singly morning I am in shear hell because my hand is dead numb and my thumb is in the worst pain I have ever had. It was never like this before but just recently I would say almost a month this has been happening and is really getting worse. I do not know what to do, I am planning on going to see that doctor again for nerves but until I get in I was wondering what it could be and how I can treat it at home because I can NOT sleep or do anything and cry all the time because it hurts and is so frustrating to wake up with that terrible pain in my thumb and hand and even after straightening my elbow out it takes a long time for it to go away probably because it was bent all night. I take klonopin at night just to sleep because I couldnt if I didnt knock myself out, even trying to go to bed is hard because it has to be completley straight and I have to be in the exact right position even on my shoulder . PLEASE help me.. I feel like I am living in hell.

Hi Tajana,

Thanks for posting your query in hcm forum,

The pain due to toothbrush injury usually lasts for few days.
But in some cases, depending on the severity of injury,it can lead into ulceration.
Apply mucopain gel on the affected area.
Use soft-interdental toothbrush and clean your teeth in back-forth ,up-down motion.
Avoid vigorous brushing methods.
Massage the area using gum tone gel.
Drink plenty of water and fluids.
Take vitamin becosules,c,iron tablets.
If symptoms persists even after 1 week, please do visit a dentist.
Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical history i suppose that you have developed a trauma due to vigorous toothbrushing habit.
Selection of proper toothbrush is very important in maintianing good oral health.
According to your teeth size and gum health you can select from soft, ultrasoft, medium and hard toothbrushes available in the market.
Brush your teeth in circular motion and for gums use flicking movements without any pressure.
Apply DOLOGEL oral ointment topically over the affected area.
Use lukewarm saline gargles.
Use antiseptic mouthwash rinses to prevent infection and promote healing.

Hope this helps out.

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

Your clinical history suggests you have traumatized the lingual surface of your gums by tooth brush injury which has lead to ulceration in the area.

Such traumatic Ulcers may take a little longer time to heal .

i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine which will prevent infection and will give soothingb effect.

start with multivitamin supplements for 7 to 10 days and vitamin C lozenges will help in resolving the problem.

avoid alcohol , carbonated drinks , tobacco chewing and smoking as these may worsen the area affected.

Apply oral antiseptic ,analgesic ointments like dentogel or mucogel topically over the affected area

use soft tooth brush , avoid any further trauma to the affected area.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The injury will heal by itself! / Maintain good oral hygiene / Use antiseptic rinse
Of course, you should change to a soft brush
If it does not improve in a couple of days, you should see a dentist.../ if persisting after a week, one may even need a biopsy

You have not stated your personal habits, family history or co-morbidities, even age, gender...which could have an influence on the diagnosis and outcome...Diabetic?

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
