Missing Periods For 11 Months, Excess Facial Hair, Weight Gain And Feeling Tired Easily. What Is The Reason?
Hi, I'm 21, had no period for last 11 months, lots of facial hair for last year, massive weight gain, mostly around middle, 5 foot small/tall, 12.5 stone in weight, tire very easily. walk 3 miles a day, swim twice a week (not strong swimmer). eat healthily. what is causing all these symptoms?
Hello madam, from the history you have given it is like polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS)....It is the most common cause of secondary amenorrhea....It is a heterogenous condition where in there is menstrual irregularity, along with obesity and symptoms of hyperandrogenism like acne, hirsutism....you need to consult a gynaecologist, where in a detaile history and physical examination is carried out, d diagnosis can be made only after doing an ultrasound scans showing polycystic ovaries....In case it is diagnosed as PCOS you may be adviced oral contraceptive pills to regularise your cycle, followed by diet and exercise...A high BMI (body mass index) can also cause menstrual irregularity..a thyroid function is also required to rule out hypothyroidism...I hope I was helpful to you...
