Mucus And Blood In Stool. Worried About Cancer

Hi. Last had a poo 1 1/2 weeks ago and it was like sludge that filled up the loo! Not had one since then. Been trying, but only seen 2 white lumps of jelly since then. Not even felt a need to go, but had a feeling tonight, but when I went only blood came out! About 2 spoonfuls of bright red blood, but still, no poo. Could I have cancer? I am nearly 41 and my mum had bowel cancer so I am worried. thanks.

hi, blood and mucus in stools could be due to amoebiasis. for which you can take antibiotics for 5 days, that will be cured. but since you are giving history of bowel cancer in the family you should undergo colonoscopy as a screening procedure for ruling out cancer. all the good luck.
