My Husband's Stools Look Darker And Softer After Medication. Can An Online Doctor Help Me ?
My Husband went to the ER Thursday night 10pm and came home later around 3am. He was diagnosed with Epigastric Pain and anemia , and prescribed Prevpac and iron supplements . A week within going to the ER, stools looked darker than normal. Since going to the ER, had already took 2 doses of Prevpac and iron supplements, but don t know if should continue because, he just had a bowel movement , but with this bowel he had shortness of breath and felt like something was blocked in mid abdominal , and his stool looked darker and softer than before he took the meds. Shouldn t his bowels look more normal and movements less comfortable now that he s on meds?
Hello
Welcome to HealthcareMagic
The medicine given to your husband causes blackish discoloration of stools and increase bowel movements. This is minor sided effect of iron. Take the medicine after meals. If possible take it in night hours.
Have a Healthful Day..
