My Son Has Had Two Eegs Come Back Abnormal
My 11 year old son has had two eeg's come back abnormal and is showing slow brain waves in the temporal frontal and side lobe. He seems to me to be having abscent seizures although it hasn't been seen on an eeg. Mri has come back fine. What would cause this? He has iep in school and LD, op, speech and put into a smaller class at school with boces help.

I should have written that it's happening on the left side of the brain. The EEG shows no spikes, just slowing.

There are a host of things that can cause minor wave degration in those areas listed above. One that should be ruled out first and foremost is the inhalation of toxic gases. Spills and broken seals can lead to an over exposure to these gases, and it's important that you talk to your son and ask him if he recalls being around such things. Toxic exposure to these things is harmful but also can be easily fixed. Even things like body-spray deodorant are known to cause damage if over exposed. I wish you and your son the best of luck with his progress.
