Need Medication For Burn On Arm

i am a 31 yr old male. i have a small burn on my arm 6 inches above my wrist. from a drop of hot oil, i have been putting antibiotic ointment on it for 3 days and keeping it covered. it seems to be getting worse and is puffed up. i wanted to see if puss would come out if squeezed it so i did squeeze it like 3 times early yesterday. now i have a bruise i assume running 2 1/2 inches all around the wound because it is slightly discolored and is sore to the touch all around it. i also have felt sluggish today. what can i do to help it so i do not have to go to the hospital?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

The area seems to have got secondarily infected with bacteria. If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to take an oral antibiotic for a week to help resolve the infection (My choice of an oral antibiotic would have been Amoxycillin or Cefadroxil, for a week).

An OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin can be applied twice daily in addition to the oral antibiotic.

regards
