Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just got up from working a night shift and had explosive CLEAR diarrhea . No smell, but a lot of it. I am under stress, but I have been for a few years now. I m 59 female, and white with a bit of a weight problem, taking meds for HBP and Chol.... Other than that, I m pretty healthy.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of a 59 year old female who after getting from night shift and had an explosive clear diarrhea without any smell. Also noted that you are under a lot of stress and has weight problem, taking medicines for high blood pressure and cholesterol, otherwise healthy. Such an occurrence can be due to either viral infection or a bacterial infection of the Salmonella group. I would advise you the following: Blood tests for CBC, diabetes and thyroid; culture and sensitivity sometimes helps a lot for proper diagnosis and treatment. Test of the stool also helps in deciding the treatment which may be an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotic and supportive management.
