Need Treatment For Discomfort In Stomach.

My daughter-in-law has been sick at her stomach for several days. She thinks she has a virus or flue, so doesn t want to go to the doctor. They don t have insurance. My son says that when she burbs, it smells really bad. He describes it as a sulphur smell. He thinks she might have an infection or something. Any idea.

I believe initially, without being able to perform a physical or with no other symptoms described, that it very well may be a virus; as this is by far the most common cause of such symptoms. A viral infection may last for many days, with associated nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and foul smelling breath. I highly suggest she remains hydrated and encourage a visit with a physician nonetheless to rule out anything more serious. If she is experiencing fevers, and or blood on stool or vomit, contact emergency services. Until that time, hydration and rest are the two best treatments; with careful monitoring and reporting of any other symptoms.

Warm Regards, I trust and hope she will feel better soon.
