Nerve Pain In The Leg After Microdiscectomy. Pain On Standing For A Long Time. Could This Be Due To Inflammation?
I am 3 months post microdiscectomy and still have nerve pain in my leg. It has improved since surgery but has seemed to have reached a plateau. My pain increases on standing too long (over an hour) and sitting. I do Physio exercises three times a day and walk a lot. Could this still be inflamation of the nerve after 3 months or something more serious? Thanks
The pain in the leg more so on standing and sitting for a long time could be the remnant of the original pain. Indeed, discectomy, or any surgical interference, will leave behind some amount of discomfort for a while. This may be a month or 6 months ! The nerve pain is a radiating / spreading pain while the pain u describe appears to be due to myalgia, ( muscle causes). Hopefully you do not have any skeletal abnormalities, like scoliosis ( lateral bending of the spine. So, I suggest you need to continue of Physio and take simple analgesics like Paracetamol 1000 mgm. daily to break the pain cycle and local massage with diclofenac gel.
with best wishes
