No Lubrication In Knee, Gel Injections Taken, Hip Replacement Done, Not Healing. Knee Replacement Required?

My right knee has almost no lubrication left - have received 2 gel injections in last two weeks which have not
helped. I realize that up to 6 weeks is needed for good results. Had hip replacement 3 months ago. Have 2
slipped discs plus spinal stenosis. My hip is not healing as quickly I believe, as the other hip which was replaced
15 months ago, due to lack of support from the bad knee. I also can feel my knee shift and lock periodically.
Should I pursue knee replacement? I understand that gel injections just postpone the inevitable knee replacement.
Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us

If the pain is persist even after conservative treatment and destruction of joint is severe( reduced joint space, osteophytes), You should plan for knee replacement. You are right, these injections not able to stop the degenerative process.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
