No Menstrual Period After D&C. What Is Wrong?

Hello Dr,please i need help.i had dis D and C on the 23rd of august and haven t seen my menstrual period until today being the 3rd of october which is very scanty and painful.well,4 days after the medical surgery(DandC) i had,i had very severe pains n few drop of blood which i presumed was my period and on d 2nd day,no blood came out as i continued to feel this teribble pains till d next 3days then on d last day,i had few drops of watery reddish thing which seemed to me like blood and this came with alot of pains.though i tooks some pain killer tablets.i don t know wat wrong with me and i need your urgent advice.thank you.

Hello,
You did not say why you had the dilatation and curettage. If D&C is done in a woman who did not have any vaginal delivery before, the cervix has to be dilated and this leads to pain. Even though the procedure is done under anaesthesia, pain is persistent for sometime later. Spotting is also observed sometimes after the procedure depending on the reason for D&C. Also, menstrual cycle gets disturbed after any procedure, including stress. Yet, as you have pain, I suggest that you see your doctor for a checkup and advice. Take care.
