Normal To Have Irregular Periods, Brown Discharge After Contraceptive Injection?

Hi I was on the contraceptive injection for around about 12 months I last had my injection 12 months ago it then talk around about six months before I had a period my periods and now irregular and they are around about once every three months and can last between 2 to 3 weeks they are very brown and clotty also look like skin of some form is this normal
