Not Had Normal Period After Miscarriage Using Cytotec. Have Abnormal Thick Uterine Lining. How To Treat It?

Hi. I was just told that I have an abnormally thick uterine lining of 1.8 cm. I had a miscarriage back in august 21013 and didn't stop bleeding until mis September. I had an ultrasound done to make sure there were no retained products and the us showed that everything was gone but that my lining was a little bit thick. I was told that this would go away when I had my period. We'll it is now the 2nd of December 2013 and I have only bled the slightest little bit and passed 2 clots. I still have not had a normal period after my miscarriage using cytotec. I had an mri done last week to check to see if my uterus was bicornuate and how bad and the test showed a thick lining. Is this normal, what can be done about this. ,y gone has yet to contact me , I spoke to my gap and they informed me I should have a biopsy done. Can you please give me some answers.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

A normal period would result in shedding of the inner lining and in turn help it to return to normal thickness. As this normal period has not occured it could have resulted in a thickened endometrium, so a period should be stimualted and brought about with the help of medication at the earliest; which is already being done.

But another cause could be an abnormality of the uterus or inner lining of the uterus like a hypertrophy of the endometrial, endometrial hyperplasia, endometriosis, etc. Please do go about the biopsy to rule out these conditions, so the doctors can concentrate on just getting you to have a normal period.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
