Noticed Difficulty In Passing The Stool Due To Intake Of Nan1
Hi Doctor My Son is 1 month old and had very bad wind with my breast milk, I also got diarreah for a week after we returned from the hospital, then the following week had an infection in my C-section incision(antibiotics clindamycin for the week) the got infection in a tooth (one more week of antibiotics) so I stopped giving my baby my breast milk and started on Nan1. My baby has now had continuous Nan1 for around a week or so and I have no problems apart from the stools he is passing. some times its more like little pellets and some times it comes out in big amounts at a time. it doesn't seem like he is in pain when passing a stool, but he does get unsettled every now and again and I have come to notice it is after he has had a bottle but not every time he feeds, is it normal for some unsettling to take place, no crying, just noisy. he is also feeding 100ml every 2.5 to 3 hours.
Hello, breast milk is the best option for the overall health of infants, unless your physician says that you have to stop breast feeding. Breast milk contains natural nutrients and helps boost an infants immune system. Commercial formulas have improved over the years, but can not provide all the benefits of breast milk. Babies have more formed stools on commercial formula and more difficulty digesting the milk. You may want to consider re-starting breast feeding a few times per day a least, for the next 6 months, if you are able to do so. If you need to supplement with a commercial formula, hypo-allergenic formulas are easier for infants to digest. Please follow up for immunizations and check ups with your pediatrics clinic.
