Noticed Sore Throat,cold,and Tiredness

For the past week or so I have noticed upon waking a sore throat and congested nose with bloody mucus. I do not have a cold or other symptoms of congestion, but do suffer from some food allergies. Now I am feeling dizzy upon waking with some tiredness. I do have polycystic kidneys, so am concerned about dehydration or other complications. Is there anything that I could try, or should I see a professional?

Hi Dear,

welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query sore throat, cold, and tiredness is because due to streptococcal infection leading to strep throat and it could be due to sinusitis. I would suggest gargle with an antimicrobial mouthwash such as Listerine. You should take steam inhalation with vaporizers. You should take antibiotics like Amoxicillin for 5 days. Avoid spicy, hot and sharp food substances. You should take anti-inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen for relief from pain and inflammation. Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily. Do warm saline gargles. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. Visit ENT specialist once and get throat culture and sputum test done to find out exact cause and start treatment accordingly. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. For now continue doing gargles and drink one spoon of honey mix with glass of lukewarm water. You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizers. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best wishes,
