Noticed That My Stools Are Soft And Kind Of Flaky After Taking Medicine
Hello im currently taking clindamycin for a tooth extraction that was infected. Im not sure if this medication has anything to do with this or not but since i been on this, I have noticed that my stools are coming out in a bunch of small pieces not whole, the stools seem soft and kind of flaky, not hard like constipation, any advice on what i can do?
Im a 40 yr old male, also a couple months ago i was on cipro for prostatitis, any information will help. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history and understood your concerns. Clindamycin after tooth extraction is a good antibiotic, but it can also kill the normal bacterial flora of the intestinal tract causing the variation in the stool after it is started. Since Cipro was taken in past, I would advise you to change to Ciprofloxacin as this too is good antibiotic for tooth extraction and stop Clindamycin. Get started with probiotics too. Take diet as advised by your Doctor. Take boiled and cooled water and use oral cleansing agents. Never take Clindamycin in future.
