Numbness In Finger Tips On Both Hands. Have Hypertension. History Of Misdignosis For Diabetes And On Metfromin For Years. Possible Blockage In Heart?

I am a 41 yr old blk female with a hx of hypertension. I have been having numbness in my finger tips on both hand but the right more than the left. No matter how I sleep they become numb to the point it is painful when I awake. I can be at work and they go numb. Do you think I may have a blockage in my heart and the blood is not circulating good enough or could it be nerve damage? I was misdiagnosed as having Diabetes type 2 and for years I took medication Metformin.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Involvement of both arms are there , hence condition is not a localized disease.
Bilateral ( both sides) disease is there.
You are taking drugs for hypertension so circulatory system may be the cause.
Since two year back , misdiagnosed type 2 diabetes, so this time once again consult a physician and get in HB A 1 C examination for diabetes.
Peripheral neuropathy is one most important cause of numbness and paresis in hands.
M R I of skull is also important for bilateral involvement.
Hope I have answered your query.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.
Dr. HET
