Numbness In Left Calf, Left Thigh, Suffering From Sciatica. Any Medications ?
. My left calf , part of my left thigh and my bum have went numb due to my sciatica flaring up. I have been to see my doctor and went to my local hospital and been prescribed tramadol, declafenac and diazapam. I was told that the numbness is usual for people with sciatica but i want to know how long this usually lasts as I am meant to be back at work next Monday and I would like to be able to walk without needing support. I have also not pood for a few days due to the numbness in my bum but this may be due to not rating regular meals as I have been in and out if hospital but I have been able to pass gas without any problems. Is there any advice you can give me to help with is or do i just have to wait if out and take my medication?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello mich,
Thanks for posting your query
First of all I want to clear that Sciatica is a symptom not a diagnosis.
This means there is pressure over nerve roots which causes pain & numbness in region of nerve root.
So you might be suffering from some disc problem.
So you have to visit an orthopaedic surgeon for detailed examination of spine & pelvic region.
Regards.
