Old Aged Man, Have Clear Yellow Urine With Bad Smell. What To Do?
my father is 96 . the urologist says that he may have BPH. will be checked further by him in two weeks....he has a catheter and I noticed clear yellow urine but it smells really bad and when it sits for a few hours in a container I see some white percipitating curds form....I am not asking med advice as he is under doctors care. I am just curious....no pain of any kind.
The presence of a significant foul odour to urine can indicate a urinary tract infection. Older persons like your father , diabetics, persons on steroids or with any immunosuppressive condition may not have the typical symptoms associated with a urinary tract infection. This is because their body's cannot mount an appropriate response.
You may want to consider speaking to his doctor about the odour. A urine culture may be suggested.
I hope this helps
