Open Sore On Buttocks, Redness, Tenderness. Given Stool Softener. What Is It Related To?

My husband has a open sore on his buttocks. It started as a pimple, then the head of it turned black . Deep red surrounding it .now it is open sore approx . Pencil eraser in size and extremely tender to the touch. I've been applying prid all natural drawing salve on with bandage, but think now it is open sore, it needs air. At the same time of the onset, he also got approx. a dozen hives and three styles on left eye. He is allergic to salsa and his sister had just givin him a stool softener(prescription)white and red(p10) Any thoughts on the sore or coralation of any of this info put together. Much appreciated sincerely, Cyndie

Hi thanks for your question.
Most probably your husband had a boil (infection of hair follicle) at buttock, which has spread in size and severity and has involved the adjoining area. There may be puss in it. Your husband needs a course of antibiotics and analgesic anti inflammatory drugs.Daily dressing is advisable. Consultation with a physician is advisable who may examine him to rule out/confirm puss in it .In case of puss it needs drainage.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi, many thanks for the query!
You should get pgysically examined by your doctor to look for any pus left in situ, as you said it has already opened (& some of pus must have drained).
It can be a bed (pressure) sore (due to prolonged bed rest in same position) or can be secondary to some unknown minor trauma associated with DM.
You need to do- Blood Sugar Level, a good control over it is necessary,
if deranged, for better wound healing.
Also do- CBC. If pus is still there, then pus (culture & sensitivity) and appropriate antibiotics as per the report with your doctor's opinion.
Take Vit. C preparation, anti-inflammatory drugs, pain killers,
stool softners only after your doctor's opinion.
Wish you a good health.
Take care.
Regards.
