General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. In case of foul smelling discharge bacterial vaginosis is the main possibility. Trichomonasis can be suspected in case of greenish vaginal discharge. Yeast infection can be associated along with these also. A swab test is necessary to rule out also. Usually creams like clotrimazole is given for yeast infection alone. For bacterial vaginosis I usually give combination of antibiotics like metronidazole or clindamycin with clotrimazole as vaginal suppository or as oral tablets. Even for Trichomonasis metronidazole is the choice. Hope this may help you Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
