PFT Test Showing Mild Restrictive Ventilatory Defect, Reduced Forced Vital Capacity. Chances Of Obstructive Pulmonary Impairment

I got PFT test. The results is like this:
MILD RESTRICTIVE VENTILATORY DEFECT. This is indicated by the finding of a mildly reduced forced vital capacity (FVC). The finding of a
disproportionately reduced forced expiratory flow during the middle half of exhalation (FEF 25-75) suggests the possibility of a
SUPERIMPOSED EARLY OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY IMPAIRMENT. This interpretation is valid only upon physician review and signature.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi kollanag,
Thanks for visiting HCM.
Before going for interpretation it is necessary to see whether the test performed has met the acceptablity criteria or not. As the whole test is based on subject's breathing effort, it has a great impact on test values and interpretaion.
In your case the test is not acceptable as you have blown for just 2.74 sec ( Exp time: 2.74 sec), which should be at least 6 sec as per guideline. So there is no question of reaching a conclusion.
Get your test repeated again.

Best wishes
