Pain And Weakness In The Limbs And Lower Back. MRI Revealed Disc Protrusion. Precautions For Surgery?

Hi Dr. H am 61 old I had low back pain since 5 months .The pain referred to the back of the thighs . There is weakness in both lower limbs . MRI revealed:L2,L4-5 posterior broad disc protrusion inclined to the right indenting the ventral thecal aspect,encroaching upon the related exit foramina notably the right.
L5-4 posterior disc bulge indenting the ventral tehecal aspect encroaching upon the related exit foramina bilaterally.
L5-S1 posterior diffused disc bulge indenting the ventral tehecal aspect with no foraminal compromise.
Ventral body hemangicma S1 level.
I did physiotherapy , body rest, pain killers and muscle relaxants also lyrica >but the case is more bad .
Dear dr. i would like to tell me what i will do if there operation tell me . Many thanks for your sympathy >

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

As you have weakness in both lower limbs, there is no role for conservative management in your case.

You have to undergo surgical decompression of the disc in the form of either Microlumbar discectomy or Endoscopic discectomy.

If you leave the problem untreated, you may develop permanent weakness in the involved muscle groups.
