Pain, Bruised Feeling Near Tailbone, Done Colonoscopy

I have pain or severe bruised feeling near my sit bone. I saw a GI on Monday and they concluded I needed a colonoscopy due to blood in stool , but this pain/bruisd feeling started the day after I visited with the GI doctor. I . have had three rectal exams in the last few weeks so I m not sure if it s related to that. It s painful to sit or lay on my back. I haven t fallen or done anything to that area that would cause pain.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Repeated rectal examinations can cause a displacement of coccyx or an inflammation in the area causing the pain. Coccydynia will improve on taking anti inflammatory drugs and using a doughnut cushion for sitting.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
