Pain In Ankles Lately After Playing Badminton, Little Knobs On Feet On Both Sides. Hurts When Pressed. Solution ?
I play badminton daily for an hour or two, but lately both of my ankles have been hurting. Sometimes, it s the sides facing out to the sides that hurt, but sometimes it s the sides facing inside that hurt. The pain is generally in the area above the little knobs on my feet on both sides. It hurts to put weight on them, and when I lightly press them, it also hurts. However, there s no noticeable swelling or bruising , and the pain usually dulls overnight until practice the next day.
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for writing to us It seems that you have suffered a sprain of the ankle muscles during the workout. Such minor sprains usually take 7-10 days to resolve. 1. Give enough rest to your ankle and foot muscle. Avoid playing badminton and putting full weight till acute pain subsides completely. 2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. 3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help. You can consult your orthopedician for prescriptions. 4. Hot compresses to your arm will be useful pain relieving measure. You may apply a local analgesic gel on that area. This should slowly subside with hot fomentation and proper relaxation.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
