Hi Drjhuber,
The painful bump you have mentioned may be due to an Acute
Hordeolum Internum(HI) with the surrounding swelling due to spreading inflammatory reaction as a responsive mechanism by our body.
The only thing I am concerned is about your vision!
Such swellings usually cause a mechanical drooping of eye lids and difficulty in opening the eye and hence the problem to see.
But if your vision is blurred in that particular eye with your freely moving lids, then it could be because of any Corneal ( transparent part of the eye) involvement a dust particle or an infection.
In either case you need a direct examination by an ophthalmologist for starting both topical and oral antibiotic according to severity.
Until you get an appointment, hot fomentation over the swelling, with twice daily dose of oral anti inflammatory tablet will help your pain to come down.
Make sure to keep your lid margins clean and moist, to avoid recurrent infection of the hair follicle(HI).
Hope you get well soon :).
