Pain In Joints, Chest Area. Daughter Having Strep Throat. Recommendations?

Pain/achiness in joints back (kidney areas), sides, and chest areas. Started a few weeks ago just on my sides but is now in other areas. I would characterize as flu-like but I don't have the flu (I've had it before and this isn't it). No temp, eating OK, bowel movements OK. My daughter is home with MONO and Strep throat but I don't have a sore throat, lethargy or swollen glands so I don't think I have these.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

It could be most propably a Viral infection presenting with systemic inflammatory myalgias. Generally, these infections are self limiting and will resolve spontaneously within a few days.

Only symptomatic and supportive treatment is needed to alleviate your symptoms.
Simple Analgesic & antiinflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve will be helpful.

If your symptoms are not resolving or if they are getting worse, consult your family physician for further evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
