Pain In Kidney Region On Urination And Physical Movements. Urine Test Showed Pus Cells, RBC And RPC. What Is The Cause?

Pain in the right side kidney region, usually on urination and during movements (walking, climbing stairs). At other times, no pain is noticeable. Pain is not constant or severe or sharp. No other conditions or symptoms in other regions (abdomen, penis, testicles).

Urine test shows 1-2 puss cells, 2-4 Rbc and few EPC. Blood test showed Hb - 15, TC - 12,200; DC : P 76%, L 23%, E 1% ESR - 5 mm / 1hr

Please advice what could be the cause.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,

These results are very suggestive of a urinary tract infection,. Serious and appropriate antibiotherapy might be necessary. It is important to collect urine samples for cultures and sensitivity tests before commencing antibiotherapy., A clinical review to ascertain any predisposing factors to this infection, especially if its recurrent is important. The cultures and sensitivity tests, kidney function tests and an abdominal ultrasound to ascertain the echostructure of the kidney, the size and other possible abnormalities could be useful.

I suggest you consult your primary care physician for an in depth evaluation.

Thanks and kind regards,

Bain LE, MD.
