Pain In Knee And Thigh, Swelling In Ankle, Numbness In Foot. Have TKR And Tibia Cracking
I had full tkr with the tibia cracking during surgery. It has been 6 weeks and I was doing fairly well pain was getting better but then few days ago I started to get 12 out of 10 on the pain scale stabbing radiating pain on the outside lower part of the knee that would go right across and behind and up the inner side of the thigh. This happens when I laying straight and I start to do knee bends once I get passed a certain point it is ok but it hurt even worse when I go to straighten it back unbelievable pain. I do have swelling in ankle and numbness in foot and and outside of knee.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. It is not uncommon to having pain even after 6 weeks of TKR. It could be due to patellar maltracking. Doing rehabilitation exercises will be helpful in regaining range of motion. Some medication like methylcobalamine with muscle relaxant and analgesic will reduce pain, you can take them consulting your treating doctor. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
