Pain In Left Hand Side Underneath Rib Cage, Tender Stomach. Prescribed Peppermint Tablets. Suggestions?
Hi. I am experiencing some pain on the left hand side, just underneath my rib cage but feels like its radiated into my back also and its steadily getting worse. I feel sick and my stomach is also tender. I went to see my GP yesterday who prescribed some peppermint oil tablets as she feels it may have something to do with my IBS. Should I ride it out with drugs or go to my local A&E?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
H/O Feeling sick, Pain in the left rib cage area and radiated into back and its steadily getting worse. Dont exert yourself, better to get done one ECG and USG abdomen ASAP. If normal then take plenty of fluids and fibrous diet regularly at right timings with exercises, you can take pantoprazole 40mg every evening one fora week with NSAID and muscle relaxant to prevent pain if it is due to musculoskeletal pain. Consult your doctor for examination and management. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
