Pain In Left Wrist Near Knuckle, Radiating Towards Arm, Difficulty In Holding Things. Any Ideas?

I have pain in my lift wrist near knuckle. It has come and gone for years, but when it is bad cannot even pick or hold anything. Yesterday it started in wrist and then pain started going up my arm. It is very painful and uncomfortable. Usually the pain would start in change of weather. Do you any ideas what it could be.
