Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a following question: Sometimes I have attacks , when my rib cage is very tense and every time I breathe in, it comes with a pain. There is also subtle pain around my heart at those moments. Although, I was not actuallly able to check my heart rate or PB, it feels like my heart is beating very fast and I can hear the rate sometimes in my head or in my hands if I try to check it. I hope it all makes sence. I went to one doctor - he could not really explain what it was and suggested not to worry. But these attacks keep coming back.
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described symptoms, possibility of heart disease appears to be low.
Recurrent attacks with improvement after a time rules out chances of heart disease; heart disease needs specific treatment and without this, condition won't improve.
Although there may be possibility of arrhythmias.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for chest x ray and electrocardiography (ECG) on preliminary basis.
You should also go for holter monitoring to rule put any arrhythmias.
There may also be possibility of panic attacks if above mentioned investigations are found to be normal.
Then you should consult with psychiatrist for better treatment.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
