I seek your advise please. Amit Sengupta
Hi Mr.Amit, thanks for writing to HCM. The term "Frozen shoulder" applies to a wide range of disorders that result in pain and stiffness of shoulder joint. This condition is commonly seen in association with DIABETES and Cardiovascular disease. In case of Diabetes, this condition is generally bilateral (affecting both shoulder joints) and is very resistant to treatment. Theoritically speaking, this condition is SELF LIMITING and usually resolves completely with 12-18 months of duration. Drugs and steroid injections are only of little help. The main stay of managing this condition is by PHYSIOTHERAPY in the form of gentle stretching and moving the shoulder in all directions. If there is no improvement in symptoms even after physiotherapy, then MANIPULATION under anesthesia or ARTHROSCOPIC release is indicated.
Hope this information is helpful to you. Good day
