NCV refers to nerve conduction velocity which may be affected in peripheral neuropathy. The pain described can arise from arteries, veins, muscles and nerves of legs.As your doppler studies are normal arterial and venous causes are ruled out.Muscle pain is exaggerated by exertion, whereas your pain is more during nights.By exclusion of other causes itself ,the most possible origin of your pain is the nerve.Hence to confirm this, the doctor has ordered for nerve test in the form of NCV.It is advisable for you to go ahead with the test.
