I have been having pain to the right of my sternum - side area of right breast. It is a dull ache which has been there for the past several days. Any suggestions? I am 73 yr old female. I do have fibromyalgia and a great deal of inflammation throughout my body. Left hip and left leg pain. AND right hip and right leg pain. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Pain in sternum seems to be due to chostochondritis. Give rest to the part. Avoid overhead activities.Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.Drink plenty of fluids/water and eat leafy vegetables/fresh fruits . Take diet rich in calcium and vit D3.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.

General & Family Physician Dr. Ramesh M.Vachharajani's  Response
Hi,
It seems that you might be having degenerative osteoartheritis changes in your joints giving rise to this problem.
There might be having osteoporosis of bones as well.
Go for light exercise like slow walking, swimming daily.
Go for physiotherapy of all the joints to keep joints movable.
Take calcium, vitamin A and D supplements.
Ok and take care.
