Pain In Sterum, Threw Up. Taking Laxative, Usually Painful After Taking Laxative. Suggestions?
I take laxatives about sometimes up to 2 times a week (I also use Metamucil but ran out). The past three days I have been taking laxatives and last night when I did I woke up with the worst pain in my sternum. I ended up throwing up. The pain I had was not cramping or anything associated with going to the bathroom but the pain was unbearable until I threw up. I notice that every time I take a laxative I get pain in my sternum but NOTHING like I felt last night.

It is very unusual for one to vomit following intake of a laxative unless the taste is bad. As you have not mentioned the name of the laxative it is not possible to comment if that is the cause.
