Pain In The Gum. No Swelling. Reason?

Hello, a few months back, above just one of my teeth , my gum started hurting very badly. It was sore to the touch, and was constantly throbbing. This lasted about two weeks, and then suddenly went away. As of yesterday, the same area started hurting again. It s exactly the same as it was. There is no bleeding , and it does not appear to be swollen. It just hurts very badly. Could you tell me what this could mean?

HELLO AND WELCOME,

Sore gums are usually associated with-

PERIAPICAL ABSCESS

PERIODONTAL ABSCESS

GINGIVAL RECESSION

LOCALISED PERIODONTITIS

A thorough clinical examination is required to diagnose.

Meanwhile visit a dentist and get your teeth cleaned.

apply dologel on the affected site.

CURETTAGE AND ABSCESS DRAINAGE should be done if required.

IF There is any decayed tooth, get it restored.

Stop the use of toothpicks if you practice any.

use golgate-sensitive-pro-relief toothpaste to brush your teeth.

hope you get well soon.

regards

HELLO
in your case it seems you have acute exposure of the tooth and hypersensitivity due to deep caries ,, which some time irritates and hurt you , but at the same time it is also possible that there is a pocket pain due to food accumulation in that specific area and you can properly manage it by viewing this issue with a PA x-ray. use of mouth wash and a desensitize tooth paste may also work but the good thing is to visit your nearest dentist for physical examination. regards,

hi and welcome ,
After reading your history i suspect pain in the gums is either due to infection in the gingival pocket due to accumulation of bacterial plaque , calculus and other irritants .

or it may due to infection in the tooth or periodontal abscess that drains in the gingival tissue leading to pain and discomfort.
i would suggest you to visit a dentist and get a X RAY examination done to confirm the problem.

accordingly , if it is a gum infection it can be treated by deep scaling , root planing or currettage .
if the tooth is involved that root canal treatment can be done .

i hope this helps ,
take care.

Dentist Dr. Neha Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us
from the description you might be suffering from infection due food lodgement or any caries. In most of the cases, it is due to poor oral hygiene or deposits. But sometimes it can be due to some deficiency like vitamin C or because of some hormonal changes at particular age. Getting cleaning done once is not gonna solve the problem. You have to go for regulars cleanings after every 6 months. Along with this maintain very good oral hygiene like brushing twice daily along with flossing. Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day and you can massage your gums with some good OTC gum paint. You can take vitamin C supplement which makes the gums healthy.
You can contact me again directly through my profile.
Regards.

Dentist Dr. Anshumala Singh's  Response
dear friend
thanx for sharing your concern,

as you have mentioned that your gum is hurting badly and sore to touch there could be many reasons for this. like..........
PERIAPICAL ABSCESS,
PERIODONTAL ABSCESS,
GINGIVAL RECESSION,
CLASS FIVE DENTAL CARRIES,
IMPACTED TOOTH,
CYSTS,
TUMORS,
LOCALISED PERIODONTITIS,
SOME GINGIVAL POCKET DUE TO PLAQUE, CALCULUS AND OTHER IRRITANTS ,
TOOTHBRUSH TRAUMA etc
all these are differential diagnosis on your chief complaint.
but friend, i think you have not noticed , there could be a very minor apthous ulcer too.
which has appeared two weeks back, healed on its own and has appeared again.
this is also quite painful .

for this you don't have to worry,
you can take capsule BECOSULES one tab per day for fifteen days .
also get an xray done for the concerned tooth and gum, there might be some pathology underlying it
this should help.
thanx
