Pain In The Lower Abdomen After Holding Urine For A Long Time. Will There Be Any Problem?
Last night I went to bed without urinating as I was tired and unable to get to the restroom. I woke up this morning with my stomach (believe bladder) very full and swollen before I went to the restroom. After I used the restroom, I have been experiencing some abdominal pain on the lower left side. It's tender to touch and a little crampy. Not sure if this is just caused by holding the urine for so long, or if there could be a problem. I have no other symptoms. Should I be concerned?
It is possible that the symptoms may indicate an early urinary infection. This may develop into symptoms such as discomfort on urination, frequent urination, urgency.
You may want to consider using alot of water and also cranberry juice which is thought to be effective in urinary tract infections.
If additional symptoms develop then you need to visit your doctor for an evaluation which would include examination and analysis of the urine.
Antibiotics would be needed in that case.
I hope this helps
