From description , it seems you might developed muscular or ligamentous strain over back and buttock area.
Meanwhile following measures will help with the pain
• Lie on a hard bed.
• Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required
• Avoid forward bending.
• Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights.
• Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.

You have a recent fall from stairs and It can cause minor fractures as it is common above age of 40years.
I advice you to investigate with X-ray for confirmation and to start on treatment as fast as possible.
Tab.Ibuprofen twice a day will minimise pain but not the underlying cause of pain.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Anuj Dan's Response
Hi,
Well there is a possibility that you fractured your tail bone in the fall. Other than that the pain could also be there as a result of the bruising from the fall, but a tumble down the stairs is so small matter, as such I recommend that you go to a doctor and ask for an Xray to be done, that way we can find out if there are any fractures or not.
Hope this helped.
