I get periodic, but sharp, grabbing pain at the top of my left leg where it joins the pelvis/groin area. I don't know what I do that aggravates it, but it has been grabbing me all day today. I understand from when I visit my chiropractor there's a muscle deep within - she puts pressure on a certain spot in the area to help release it. I forget what she called it. It is in such a weird spot. But, when it grabs me, it affects me walking straight, and pulls me forward with the pain. I can be sitting, and just turn my body while I'm still sitting and experience the pain as well. So, sitting, walking, standing, and turning. It literally hits me out of the blue, and I yell out from the sharp pain. It affects and restricts my movements, until it lets up a bit, I guess.
Would you happen to know what muscle this actually is, and what I could be doing to cause this? I do sit a lot in my job - I'm a court reporter, and then sit in my computer chair, to type transcripts at home. I am extremely overweight as well. But this started for me when I wasn't overweight - and I can go back to about 10 years ago - I remember where I was working, and that my son was 12 at the time. It was less frequent, but it usually happened on a bit of a lesser pain scale, when I would get up from sitting - I could just feel a tenderness in the left area I've described.
Can you help me figure this out - some possibilities? Thank you for any helpl.
