Pain While Urinating. Prescribed Nitrofuran Monohyd And Pheazopyridine. UTI?
Hello. I am in a lot of pain. Woke up 3am this morning and had gone to the bathroom & it was extremely painful urinating. I have urinated several times & called my dr. (gyni) said it was most likely a UTI. Problem is when I go to bathroom I actually go a lot. I have also had a severe cold for 2 weeks. Dr prescribed nitrofuran monohyd & pheazopyridine. Not sure if I should wait & see if pain subsides by tomorrow or go the ER. I have shakes, no fever, nausea. Thank you for ur advice. I feel horrible. Dr said if I am in that much pain to go the ER. I am do scared of the pain while urinating I don't want to go...
The symptom of painful urination and frequent urination suggests a urinary tract infection. The drug nitrofuran is appropriate for urinate tract infection. However, if the symptoms are getting resolved, then you can go for urine examination. A culture sensitivity can be done on the urine to identify the organism causing the infection and the antibiotic to which the infecting organism will respond. You can consult your gynecologist if the symptoms persist even after taking antibiotics.
