Painful Bump Behind Ear. What Does This Sound Like?
Today I developed a sharp pain and bump on the bony left side portion of the occipital bone midway between the back of the ear and the direct center back of my skull . When I rub or press this bump a searing pain can be felt. It is not pulled muscle pain, it feels like an infection maybe. Pain is getting worse since I discovered it mid-day today, what does this sound like? It is extremely localized.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.
According to your description , pain and swelling seems to be inflammatory in nature.
I advice you to give you rest to the part affected, take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin 1 tablet with food as and when required (upto 4 tablets daily) to reduce pain and inflammation and consult your doctor for thorough examination of swelling and rule out any infective cause.
Wishing you good health..
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
