Palpitation And Anxiety, High Blood Pressure. Asked To Reduce The Dosage Of Vyvanse. Will I Have Withdrawal Symptoms?

Hi I am 39 year old woman and started vyvanse 30mg about six weeks ago. first week was good but then started feeling spacy, anxious and started anxious eating habits In the afternoon and increased heart rate. Two weeks ago doctor increased dosage to 30 mg twice daily. Went to PCP today and blood pressure was 150/80. He told me to cut back to one dose daily. Will I experience withdrawal symptoms? Would it help to take Vyvanse later in the morning so it doesn't wear off around noon?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history. You have not mentioned for what reason, you are taking vyvanse. whether it is for depressed feelings or for concentration or what??

It contains (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate, can be responsible for your symptoms.

there might be some withdrawal features lasting for few days after reducing it to one dose daily.

Dose and time of the drug should be done after consulting your doctor.
Thanks

Psychologist Dr. K. V. Anand's  Response
Dear
Vyvanse is notmally used to treat ADD and sometimes for depression and cognitive impairment
Your detail doesnot provide any other details like history and other symptoms you are facing.
Your psychiatrist is the best judge of you.
He is supposed to know you well.
Cutting back vyvanse may not cause withdrawal symptoms.
BP 150/80 may be due to anxiety
Watch your diastolic, I would worry if it crosses 90.
Wish you speedy recovery

Cardiologist Dr. Anantharamakrishnan's  Response
Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

No doubt, the new problems are from the drug... Vyvanase is well known for this..
Changing the timing will not help
Stop the drug. No withdrawal symptoms will occur...Blood pressure and heart rate will settle down with time - if not see a cardiologist...
See your Psychiatrist - he can change the drug...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
