Pelvic Scan Done. What Does Findings Mean?

hi
i did a pelvic scan and here is the result:
normal size, non gravid and anteverted uterus measuring about 45mm in AP diameter with homogenous myometrial echopattern.
The uterine outline is consistent and of border regularity.
The endometrial plate measures about 11mm in thickness, no uterine myoma, no retained products of conception seen.
An echo-free cysctic density with prosterior enhancement measuring about 16mm by 15mm in size is noted in the right adnexuim, suggestive of right functional cyst.
The left ovary, adnexal and cul-de-sac are free of mass and fluid.
SIGNIFICANT FLUID IS NOTED IN THE POSTERIOR CUL-DE-SAC SUGGESTIVE OF CHRONIC PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE (PID)

IMPRESSION
(1) acyesis
(2) right functional cyst
(3) chronic PID

Please, can you tell me in details what this is and if any, solutions.....thanks

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your report suggests that
1. Uterus is normal in size and echotexture. No signs of pregnancy at present.
2.Endometrial thickness is 11 mm and it is also normal. It depends upon days of menstrual cycle.
3.There is cyst in right ovary and it measures 16X15 mm and this is normal functional cyst.
4.Left ovary is normal.
5.There is significant fluid in POD and it may be due to pelvic inflammatory disease.

Your main problem is significant fluid in POD .Its cause should be searched for. You should consult your doctor and you need few more investigations.
Treatment depends upon investigation reports and clinical findings.
Get well soon.

Take Care
