Pink Eye, Painful, Skin Around Eyes Darker. Suggested As Might Be Viral Conjunctivitis. Advice?

Hi
I have a pink eye and a quite painful ache around my eye. It isn't sore or itchy, but feels like I have been hit in the eye (headache type pain in eye area).

The skin around my eye is darker than normal.

My optician says this is likely viral conjunctivitis. I am concerned as some of my symptoms do not seem to fit the diagnosis.

Your concern is logical.....may be you have Viral kerato-conjunctivitis(your cornea is also involved) or may be deeper inflammation like Uveitis, which is why it doesn't fit the diagnosis and you have the severe pain, headache. I just hope you are treated right.
Please see a proper ophthalmologist.....
