Pinky Toe Swollen, Purple And Bruised, Painful, Inability To Move. Need For Urgent Care?
My child stubbed their pinky toe 2 days ago while with my ex. They iced it the first night, but not since then. Tonight when I picked up the kids, their pinky toe is swollen and purple/bruised. When I move the toe, it is painful to my child, but they are not screaming. When I ask my child to move their toes, the pinky toe moves slightly, but it is very difficult and painful for my child to move it. My ex is resistent to me taking them to an urgent care place, but regardless I want to do what is best for my child. Do we need to go to an urgent care center? Thanks!
Good morning mam. u need not worry much. it could be due to swelling. u advice ur child to keep foot in elevation in supine position. apply ice. check for capillary filling by pessing tip of toe. u can strap to next finger if there is any injury inside.ask ur child to take psracetamol if there is pain. It gets well. dont worry

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi, Thanks for posting your query. It could be soft tissue injury or fracture. Without an xray it is difficult to differenciate fracture from others. I suggest you to go for urgent care and for an xray to rule out any bony injury. Meanwhile give rest to the part affected. Avoid putting weight. Hope this will helps you.
