Post Surgery Period For Hand Injury. Index Finger Removed And Thumb Reattached. Taking Gabapentin Tab. Side Effects. Stop The Medicine?

hello, ive been taking gabapentin 300 mg tabs 3x a day for eleven weeks after a hand injucry where i have had my index finger removed my thumb re attached a reverse for arm flap to cover the damaged skin area. i have had 6 operations in the past eleven weeks and have now been left with everything healing well apart from my thumb which is only a stump now as i had gradually lost it and have no bones left in it. wanted to kmow if it ok to stop taking this drug as i am experiences some side effects, aniety, anxiousness, mood swings and sleeping difficulties i wanted to just top and wondered if this is ok as i am taking them for pain and not for anything more serious??

I am sorry to hear about what you experienced, the multiple surgeries and side effects.

Always consider talking to your doctor before stopping any medications. You may no longer be in pain simply because the drug is working well and if you should stop it, then symptoms ay occur again. The doctor can authorise you to stop it immediately or consider substituting it to avoid the side effects or modifying the dosage and intervals too.
