My wife is 9.5 week pregnant, at 7th week, we go for routines tests, and only one thing found which was not good that was Rubella igM which was +ve and have value of 1.8 in compare of standard 1.1.... again on recommendation of Gyane we go for test again on 17th ,,, this time Rubella igM was Equivocal.. means it was 1.28 instead of 1.20... now the doc ask us to go for pregnancy termination.....
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Rubella is a viral infection known as german measles also. If it occurs in early pregnancy transmitted to the fetus and cause fetal congenital rubella syndrome (heart deformity, fetal deafness and mental retardation).
It can be diagnosed by a TORCH test (every pregnant women go for a rubella test for IgM, IgG).
In your case the IgM test is positive for rubella, so you should not continue your pregnancy and go for termination as your doctor says.
Don't worry.
Take care.
