Pregnant. Have Morning Sickness, Lump In Throat, Vomiting

Hi my name is Kirsty and I m 14 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have some morning sickness which isn t bad, usually sick once or twice in the morning but after that I m left with the sicky feeling and a horrible lump in my throat . I didn t want to bother my doctor as I don t know if it s so serious but when I got my flu jag I did mention it to my doctor and he said its more than likely the dangly thing in my mouth touching my tongue which is making me gag. But it s definetly not. I can feel it go down when I swallow but then it s straight back again. Also something when I m vomiting there is tiny parts of blood. It s not alot but really just needing some advice. Hope someone can help me. Many thanks , Kirsty x

Hello Ms. Kirsty,
The lump you are feeling is perhaps a mucosal patch or some granulation tissue secondary to the infection you had. You should see an ENT specialist to locate the cause. Most often, as you vomit, with retching, mucosal lining of the pharynx gets torn and as it heals you get the feeling of a lump in the throat and also blood stain in the vomitus. This will subside as the mucosa heals but any granulation tissue if causing trouble may need a cauterization. Please consult your doctor for further guidance. Good luck.
