Pregnant. Having Bad Pregnancy Sickness, Vomiting, Abnormal Bowel Movements. Should I Be Worried?

I m three Months pregnant . I have really bad pregnancy sickness so I ve been trying to eat as much as I can but most of the time I end up throwing it back up. I haven t been having normal bowel movements and today I noticed my bowel movement was a orange color and softer than usual. Should I be worried about other health problems?

Hello Rhanson17. Thanks for visiting healthcaremagic.com. Pregnancy sickness is very common and a lot of women have it so severe that they have to be put on medication to stop the vomiting and some women have to get IV fluids due to the dehydration from the vomiting. Bowel movements are also not normal in pregnancy as well and constipation is common.

To treat pregnancy sickness, it is advised to eat small meals frequently instead of large meals. For most women, pregnancy sickness passes between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy.

If you continue to have issues with vomiting, I would advise you to contact your ob/gyn. I would mention the color of the stool to your ob gyn if it continues to occur but a one time occurence is not a concern.

Be well, Dr. Kimberly
